| Spiraea japonica Golden Princess is an upright deciduous shrub with a clumping habit. Sharply toothed leaves are bronzy-red when young, later brilliant yellow, lance-shaped, to 5 inches long, and turn rich red in fall. In summer, showy, bright pink flowers are borne prolifically in upright, rounded corymbs to 8 inches in diamter. Spiraea can be nipped by late frost, prune after flowering. Fast growing, good for filling a space in a shrub border. Prefers full sun and well drained soil. Native to China and Japan. |
