| This is an erect, very broad, deciduous, large shrub or small tree, to 15' tall and 10' wide, with purplish-red branches. Leaves are also broad, oval, bluish-green, up to 8" long. Catkins are narrow, medium green, males up to 7" long, females up to 10" long. A beautiful specimen by water, but don't plant this tree anywhere near a septic system or its lines or you and the Roto-Rooter man will know each other on a first name basis. Native to Western China. |
