C. deodara is a popular specimen evergreen tree, reaching 40-70 feet tall, under cultivation. It is a very graceful tree with pendulous branches, widespreading with a flat topped crown in maturity. Foliage is blue to grayish green, almost silvery at times. Flowers are inconspicuous, cones are in singles or pairs, 3-4 inches long, reddish brown in maturity. Prefers sunny and well drained location. Can be subject to canker and weevil. Native from Afghanistan. Various cultivars are available.
