| Spiraea japonica Glowing Globe is a rounded, compact deciduous shrub with a mounding habit. Sharply toothed, lance-shaped leaves are reddish-pink in the sun, and greenish-yellow in the shade, up to 3 inches long, persistent into fall, and almost evergreen in warmer climates of the south. In summer, showy, dark pink flowers are borne prolifically in upright, rounded corymbs to 4 inches in diamter. Spiraea can be nipped by late frost, prune after flowering. Fast growing, good for filling a space in a shrub border. Prefers full sun and well drained soil. Native to China and Japan. |
