| This is a thicket-forming, spreading, vigorous, dense, large deciduous shrub, to 15' tall and 30' wide. Red shoots are twisted and often flattened. Leaves are lanceolate, slightly scalloped, brilliant green, to 5" long. Showy, narrow, male catkins are silvery-green with bright yellow anthers, to 1 1/2" long, with brilliant yellow anthers. Cut branches provide a stunning effect in floral arrangements. Native to Japan. |
