| Mongaensis, also known as Braidwood or Monga waratah, is an upright, bushy shrub with lance-shaped, round-tipped, dark green leaves. Produces flowerheads that at 3 to 4 inches across, each consisting of a aring of pale green to pale pink bracts and many tubular red flowers. In general, this group of evergreen shrubs and small trees is native to the dry woodlands of Australia. Grown for their tubular that are surrounded by overlapping, colored bracts, and followed by "boat-shaped" woody seed pods. For best results, grow this plant in moist, well-drained, slightly acid, sandy soil in full or partial shade. Shape plants annually immediately after flowering. |
