| Ulmus pumila is a large elm, 50 to 70 feet tall, with an open habit and large branches with highly brittle, breakable branchlets. Will grow under any conditions, foliage is dark green, riddled with insects, not recommended in the species form. Very messy and unattractive tree. It is, however Dutch Elm disease resistant and several cultivars show more promise. Also shows resistance to phloem necrosis. Native to Siberia, Korea, and China. |
