| Semi-evergreen to evergreen shrub, depending on climate variation. Growth habit is erect and spreading, branched out near the top, colony forming. Height 3 to 5 feet, occasionally to 10 feet tall. Spread is wider. Summer foliage is dark green, with spectacular reds and purples in the fall. Mildly fragrant, small, white flowers appear in early to mid summer on 2 to 6 inch long, upright racemes, quite abundantly flowering. Flowers are larger than for the species. Full sun or shade, soil adaptable, somewhat drought tolerant and not bothered by pests. A good native plant with fragrant flowers, good for naturalizing in moist areas of the garden. |
