| Pterostyrax hispida is a small, deciduous tree with an open, rounded crown, grows 20-30 feet tall. Handsome foliage is bright green above, silvery below, free of pests. Fall color is yellow, not remarkable. Flowers are fragrant, white, borne on large panicles in early summer.
Prefers moist, well drained, acidic soil, full sun. Needs protection from winds in the north, should be pruned in winter. For good flowering, hot, sunny weather is required. A nice specimen tree. |
