| Syringa pekinensis is a large shrub or small tree. Growth habit is multi-stemmed, spreading and informal. Foliage is typical of lilacs, summer green, no fall color. Flowers are creamy white, on 3 to 6 inch panicles. Bark is an attractive feature as well, either cherry like or exfoliating in rich brown sheets. Not well known, but should be considered more often. Native to northern China. |
