| Evergreen fern that reaches 24 inches tall to 36 inches wide. Leaves are mid-green and attached to dark brown to dark purple, almost black stalks. Similar to Adiantum raddianum, leaves are 1- to 3-pinnate, ovate and deeply cut and hairy when young. Best suited to temperatures above 45 degrees Fahrenheit, thus often used as a houseplant. It is very important that this fern does not dry out, so water when top of soil is dry to the touch. Frequent misting is welcomed also. Filtered sun or bright light from an east window is preferable. Fertilize with half strength, quick-release solution during growing season. Cut out dead or damaged fronds in spring. |
