| The thick greyish green, warty, obovate joints with flattened tops reach up to 1 inch in length and have 1 to 3 yellow-white spines of 1 inch extending from the upper small greyish areoles while a few brownish glochids cover the surface. In summer the large yellow flowers are borne singly and then produce fruit. This genus has the largest membership of sun loving species. Australia has even banned a few species because of their rapid growth. |
