| Syringa afghanica is a graceful, large deciduous shrub. Growth habit is spreading and open. Shoots are purplish-brown. Leaves are pinnate, with 3 to 9 slender elliptic, deep green leaflets. Spring blooming flowers are lilac, fragrant, borne on 3 inch long panicles. Not well known, but should be considered more often. Native to western China. |
