|Photinia glabra is one of the smallest of the photinias, reaching only 10 to 12 feet tall. Similar to Photinia serrulata but new growth is more dramatically red, and the leaves, flowers and fruits are all smaller. The flowers have the same distinctive odor that some people find repugnant and they appear a bit later, in late spring or early summer. It is not as cold hardy as the other species. Makes a more compact hedge for a smaller property. Native to China, Japan.
