| Compact, mounding, evergreen shrub with unusual whorls of hooded flowers. Leaves are sage-like, oblong and prominently veined, to 1 inch long. Flowers are held on upright shoots, to 4 inches long. Excellent for the flower border. Mixes well with rock roses and lavender. If plant become too leggy, selectively prune back, no more than half the plant.
Phlomis lanata bears golden yellow flowers covered with brown hairs in summer. 20 inches tall, 30 inches wide. Greece. |
