| \i{Illicium henryi} is an evergreen shrub,
generally 6-8 feet tall. Growth habit is dense and
pyramidal. Foliage is glossy dark green, leathery. Pink to crimson, 1 1/2 inch wide flowers appear in late spring, emerging from the leaf axils.
Not well known in American gardens, but well worth
planting. It is a good shade tolerant evergreen,
and the flowers are prettier than some of the
other species of Illicium. |
