| Camellia sinensis is an evergreen Camellia growing 4 to 6 feet high and wide. It is very adapted to shady situations. Fragrant white 1 1/2 inch flowers bloom in the fall, clusters of 1 to 3, hidden by the leaves. Fruit is a shiny capsule, 3/4 inches wide. Adapted to drought and heat, poor soil conditions. The leaves are the source of black tea, and many cultivars have been developed for tea production.
