| Spiraea japonica Golden Globe is a dense, compact deciduous shrub with a mounding habit. Sharply toothed, lance-shaped leaves are pink when young, later golden yellow, to 1 inch long, persistent through fall, occasionally evergreen in warmer climates. In summer, small, pink flowers are borne sparingly in upright, rounded corymbs to 3 inches in diameter. Spiraea can be nipped by late frost, prune after flowering. Fast growing, good for filling a space in a shrub border. Prefers full sun and well drained soil. Native to China and Japan. |
