| Deciduous tree or shrub, may reach 30 feet tall with a 20 inch diameter of trunk. Bark is furrowed, light brown to gray. Twigs can be reddish brown to gray, buds are covered with silky yellow hairs. Leaves are elliptic, 2 to 8 inches long and smooth, green. Flowers are cup-shaped, slightly fragrant, 2 to 4 inches across and yellow to yellow-green with bluish purple tinge. Fruits are pinkish red and ornamental. Cucumber tree refers to the shape of the fruits. A cross between M. acuminata and M. liliiflora. |
