| Pyrus calleryana Bradford is a large deciduous decorative pear tree. Narrow branch angles. Grows from 30 to 50 feet tall with a 20 to 35 foot spread, fast growing. Foliage is glossy dark green in summer, fall color varies, purple-red, scarlet and orange are all possible.
White, small flowers have a somewhat unpleasant scent to some people, but are so abundant they completely coat the tree, mid spring bloom. The fruit is a tiny russet dotted pome, only 1/2 inch across. Not highly decorative. Tolerates dryness and pollution, and is resistant to fireblight. Prune in winter or early spring. |
