| Tropical, evergreen perennial with short rhizomes and smooth, leathery, oblong leaves which can grow up to 6 feet long. Leaf stalks are maroon. Unusual inflorescences, resembling bird's of paradise, reach 3 1/2 feet long and are borne from spring through summer.
Requires a minimum temperature of 59 degrees F. Excellent cut flowers. Native to Central America and the West Indies. |
