| An evergreen tree, reaching 65 feet tall. Small branches are covered with golden hairs. Leaves are thick and leathery, with yellowish fine hairs on the undersides. The flowers are creamy white, blooming in October. The outer seed coats are dark red, appear in August.
Native to forests in the Dominican Republic, at 5200-6900 feet. Known locally as 'Evano Verde'. The wood is used in cabinetry. |
