| Popular specimen plant offers oval, lustrous dark green foliage edged with ivory on a dense, multi-branched form. Excellent tall informal screen if left unclipped. Tolerates pruning well for use as a hedge, in topiary work or formal gardens. Does not do well in alkaline soils or hot dry areas.
B. s. 'Suffruticosa' is the true dwarf boxwood commonly seen in formal gardens. Plant in full sun to partial shade. Hardy in zone 6b. Grows to a height of 6 to 10 feet tall. Keep moist until completely established. Average water is needed during the growing season. Fertilize in early spring before new growth begins. Maintains shape with little form or pruning. |
