| Lisianthus, botanically known as Eustoma grandiflorum is a biennial or short-lived perennial depending on climate. Foliage is gray-green, mounding and sends up 1 1/2 foot stems with showy 2 to 3 inch tulip-shaped flowers, in pink, white or mauve. Requires good garden soil, well drained, occasional fertilizing. Great for containers, border or cutting garden. If deadheaded it will bloom all summer. It is an excellent cut flower, often greenhouse grown commercially. Although this plant is native to the American High Plains, garden cultivars were introduced by Japan. |
