| This is broadly conical, deciduous tree. Star-shaped leaves are reminiscent of some maples. They have 5-7 lobes and appear either alternate or palmate and medium green with wedges of gold variegation and glossy, turning to striking purples, reds and oranges. Leaves are followed by mace-like fruit clusters. Plant in full sun for best fall colors. Many homeowners will object to the gum balls so consider the cultivar 'Rotundiloba' which is fruitless. |
