| Upright, hairy perennial that bears unusual whorls of hooded flowers. Leaves are sage-like, ovate to lance-shaped, to 8 inches long. Excellent for the flower border. Mixes well with rock roses and lavender. If plant become too leggy, selectively prune back, no more than half the plant.
Phlomis russeliana has pale yellow flowers, 1 to 1 1/2 inches long, borne from late spring to early fall, mainly in early summer. To 36 inches tall, 30 inches wide. Turkey, Syria. |
