|Stachyurus chinensis is not well known amongst gardeners, but is a fine late winter-flowering shrub. It has an arching and spreading habit and is unobtrusive when not in bloom. Leaves are ovate, sharply pointed, deep green, up to 5 inches long. The flowers are small, pale yellow, appearing in early spring on 5 inch long racemes. Fruits are small, yellow-red and berry-like. Prefers moist well drained acidic soil. Native to China.
