| S. telephium can grow up to 2 feet high and is a rhizomatous, deciduous perennial that forms clumps. It resembles S. spectabile but the leaves are more narrow. Habit is upright, unbranching, with oblong to ovate, glaucous, toothed leaves, to 3 inches long. Foliage of Munstead Dark Red is deep green tinted with dark purple. Flowers are deep purplish-red, held in terminal cymes, up to 5 inches wide, and born in late summer and early fall. It is showy over a long season and dies back over the winter. Requires full sun. Sedums are excellent grown in the rock garden, containers between stepping stones or in wall niches. |
