| Berberis candidula is a small evergreen shrub, 2-4' tall, 5' spread. It is of very dense habit, with rigid, arching branches covered with 3-pronged spines, about 1/2" long. Leaves are glossy, dark green in summer, bronze to dark red in the winter. Dainty yellow flowers appear in early summer, but are lost amongst the leaves. A purple, 1/2" long berry ripens in early fall. A beautiful plant for massing or for rock gardens. Native to China. |
