| Spiraea japonica Lightened Mound is a dense, compact deciduous shrub with a mounding habit. Sharply toothed, lance-shaped leaves are creamy-yellow when young, later lime green, to 1 inch long, persistent through fall, occasionally evergreen in warmer climates. Flowers are rarely produced. Spiraea can be nipped by late frost, prune after flowering. Fast growing, good for filling a space in a shrub border. Prefers part shade, especially in warmer climates, and well drained soil. Native to China and Japan. |
