| Upright, woolly perennial that bears unusual whorls of hooded flowers. Leaves are sage-like, medium green above, gray below, 4 to 8 inches long. Excellent for the flower border. Mixes well with rock roses and lavender. If plant become too leggy, selectively prune back, no more than half the plant.
Phlomis samia bears hooded lilac flowers, 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 inches wide, tinged rose-pink, particularly on the lips, from early to late summer. To 3 feet tall, 32 inches wide.
