| An evergreen tree magnolia growing up to 70 feet tall. Flowers bloom creamy white and fragrant, about 3 inches across. The fruit is 2 inches across, with red seeds. Leaves are smooth on both sides. Flowers between May to June, fruits September to October. Native to high altitude forests in Costa Rica, at 6000 to 8500 feet. Known locally as 'Candelillo' and is reported to be used for medicinal purposes. |
