|Slow growing conifer 'Cyano Viridis' 20 to 30 feet or more with scale-shaped leaves. Braches grow in a loose open pattern. Produces small 1.5 inch green cones. Many varieties can be trained as bonsai. Does well in fast drainging soil. Dead foliage may develope on the inner parts of many varieties, excess may indicate spider mites.
C. pisifera is a medium evergreen, under cultivation it usually does not exceed 20 to 30 feet tall, but with age will grow higher. Has a spread of 20 feet. Produces spine-tipped, scalelike dark green leaves, lighter beneath. Has rather loose, open growth. Good in large Oriental gardens. Prune heavily to force new growth
