| A terrestrial or lithophytic orchid. One elliptic leaf (to 7 inches) grows from a large, pear-shaped pseudobulb. Flowers in mid-to-late winter. Indoors, use terrestrial orchid potting mix in shallow pans, with bright, filtered light in summer, full light in winter. Requires moderate humidity and misting in summer, and a short rest period in winter (reducing temperature to 32 to 35 degrees Farenheit). Repot annually, before flowering. Outdoors, plant midspring in a sheltered site, partially shaded, with humus-rich soil that is well-drained. |
