| Fast growing, tree-like deciduous shrub reaching up to 15 feet in height and 8 feet in width. Leaves are 3- to 5-lobed, oval, hairy with a gray-green tone. Grown for showy, saucer-like white flowers. Blooms in early summer. This plant was a favorite of Victorians, growing well in bright conservatories and relocated outside in containers during warmer months. Whiteflies, spider mites, scale insects and and mealy bugs may be a problem. May be grown outside year round in frost-free areas or against warm wall or protected space in marginal areas. Use in shrub border, container garden, or as espalier. |
