| Evergreen tree, 25-80 feet tall, with smooth branchlets. Leathery leaves are 3-9.5 inches long. Flowers are fragrant, creamy white with outer greenish tepals, appearing in May to June.
Native to mountain forests in western Puerto Rico, at 2600-3200 feet elevation. Local names include 'Burro', 'Mauricio', and 'Jaqilla'. |
