| Upright, tuberous perennial that bears unusual false whorls of hooded flowers. Leaves are arrow-shaped, softly hairy, to 10 inches long. Excellent for the flower border. Mixes well with rock roses and lavender. If plant become too leggy, selectively prune back, no more than half the plant.
Phlomis tuberosa bears purple or pink flowers, 3/4 to 1 inch long, with straight upper lips, in summer. 5 feet tall, 3 to 4 feet wide.
