| Spiraea japonica Sparking Carpet is a dense, compact deciduous shrub with a prostrate habit. Sharply toothed, lance-shaped leaves are pinkish-red, to 3/4 inch long, and turn yellow in fall. Flowers are rarely produced. Spiraea is a fast grower, good for filling a space in a shrub border. It can be nipped by late frost. Prefers full sun and well drained soil. Native to China and Japan. |
