| Tufted, mat forming, woody perennials. Leaves are medium green, with 7 to 10 palmate, fuzzy leaves with lance-shaped leaflets to 3/4 inch long. Grown for their brilliant white throated, violet-blue sweet pea shaped flowers on tall spikes in spring and early summer. Wonderful cottage garden additions, eye-catching when planted in large masses. Other than requiring good drainage, not fussy about soil. Can start from seed in winter or early spring. |
