|From late summer to sutumn the species, S. microphylla, syn. S. grahamii blooms in paired or circular of 3 or more flowers in a magenta, pink or purple 1 inch long. This bushy, evergreen shrub or shrubby perennial have deep green leaves that are egg-shaped to flat, either softly hairy or hairy 1/2 to l-1/2 inches long. Salvia can be planted in a sunny border, in a meadow or used for beddng or container planting. They grow best in a fertile, humus, moist but well drained soil.
