| An epiphytic or lithophytic orchid. Two folded, lance-shaped leaves (to 12 inches) grow from cone-shaped, inverted pseudobulbs. One to two fragrant flowers appear in autumn. Indoors, use epiphytic orchid potting mix in shallow pans, with bright, filtered light in summer, full light in winter. Requires moderate humidity and misting in summer, and a short rest period in winter (reducing temperature to 32 to 35 degrees Farenheit). Repot annually, before flowering. Outdoors, plant midspring in a sheltered site, partially shaded, with humus-rich soil that is well-drained. |
