| This is a vigorous, rhizomatous, spreading perennial with upright stems and coarse, bristly, grayish-green, basal leaves, with irregular, creamy-white margins. Bears forked cymes of small, light purplish-pink flowers, which open from pinkish-purple buds, beginning in late spring. Comfrey contains protein and an impressive list of vitamins, though it can cause stomach discomfort when ingested. Remove flower stalks to keep flower production high. |
