| Pittosporum tobira is a dense, rounded evergreen shrub or small tree. The foliage is glossy, dark with lighter undersides. Fragrant, small flowers with an orange blossom scent appear in late spring, inconspicuous, but the lovely scent compensates. Quite a tolerant plant, will stand sandy soil to clay, hot, dry conditions, salt spray and heavy shade. Can get leaf spot and mealy bugs. Useful as a screen, hedge, or container plant.
Warm climate plant, native to Japan, China, and Korea. |
