| 'Sekkan-sugi' is a large, slender, pyramidal to columnar conifer with slightly pendulous branches and reddish peeling bark. Yellowish-green, 1/4-1/2 inch long leaves turn near white in winter. Produces brown female cones, each containing 3 to 5 seeds. In its native habitat, this tree will grow to 150 feet tall; otherwise expect about 60 feet. Often used as a tall screen, down avenues or as a backdrop for other plantings. |
