| This is an Oppositifoliae (a subsection of Porhpyrion, which is one of the 5 saxifrage sections) saxifrage with dense rosettes of fleshy, elliptic, deep green leaves, to 1/4 inch long. After a couple years it produces dark reddish-purple, single, cup-shaped, 3/4 inch wide flowers. This is an excellent plant for a partly shady spot in the rock garden in moist, well-drained, humus-rich, neutral to alkaline soil. |
