| Oreades, also known as Gippsland or Victorian waratah, is a large, bushy shrub with lance-shaped to obobate, matte, dark green leaves. Produces flowerheads, each consisting of a ring of light green or pink bracts and tubular red flowers. In general, this group of evergreen shrubs and small trees is native to the dry woodlands of Australia. Grown for their tubular that are surrounded by overlapping, colored bracts, and followed by "boat-shaped" woody seed pods. For best results, grow this plant in moist, well-drained, slightly acid, sandy soil in full or partial shade. Shape plants annually immediately after flowering. |
