|Hardy, low growing, clumping perennial. Leaves are lance-shaped and gray-green, to 4" long. Widely grown for its dense, spiked, purple summer flowers with persistent, purplish-red bracts. Outstanding for mass plantings, borders, or containers. Thrives in full sun. Heat and drought tolerant. Not uncommon for this plant to be labeled Salvia nemorosa because ot the similarities.
