collecting hardy geranium seeds - help needed!

: I have several hardy geraniums and would like to collect the seeds to propagate, I have been looking every day and they have either let their seeds go or they are still green and if I leave them they are sure to be gone the next day! They are the cranes-bill variety, they are open with 5 green seeds at the base, can I take the heads off before they drop the seeds and let them ripen on a warm windowsill? I would be grateful for any help, I don't mind if you use my e-mail address to reply, dandbanderton@tiscali.co.uk.
