Collecting Seed

First of all, I hope I am posting under the correct heading, if not please forgive me *HUMBLE BOW*

I am growing morning glories from seed (for the first time) and they are doing very well on my balcony. They are wrapping around the railing and have beautiful blooms.

I read on another postings under "Moon Flowers" that the seed pods could be collected when they get big, but not too big.

Can anyone elaborate more for me since I am a novice? I would really enjoy having seeds to plant year after year and to share with friends.
