: For several years, I tried growing large pumpkins. But the unrelenting heat that starts here in late March, puts an end to them in June or July. I have used soil amendments and food to no avail. Is it useless to try and grow large pumpkins in Florida? My home is on the Gulf Coast and not inland where the soil tends to be a little richer.
